New 2020 Honda Passport Review

New 2020 Honda Passport Review

Nestled between the compact Honda CR-V and the three-row Honda Pilot is the midsize, five-passenger Honda Passport. Built on Honda’s reinforced unibody Global Light Truck platform, which includes a sophisticated fully independent suspension, fully boxed floor structure and the latest generation of Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, the new 2020 Honda Passport SUV is one of the safest and most capable Honda vehicles on the market today. Let’s take a look.

Standard

The 2020 Passport is available in four trims: Sport, EX-L, Touring and Elite. All trims come with standard 20-inch wheels, matte-black grille, and Honda Sensing which may include features such as: collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and cross traffic monitoring.

Spacious

The Passport’s interior offers best-in-class passenger space and total interior volume. The second row of seats offers nearly as much legroom, shoulder room, and hip room as the front seats. And, when it comes to cargo hold, the Passport delivers 50 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row and over 100 cubic feet when the second row is folded down. Plus, below the floor panel are additional storage compartments.

Safety

Thanks to its unibody platform, ACE body structure, and standard Honda Sensing, the 2020 Honda Passport has already received top collision-safety ratings including a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score from the NHTSA and an anticipated TOP SAFETY PICK rating from the IIHS.

Capability

With its standard i-VTEC V6 engine paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission putting out 280 horsepower, the 2020 Passport offers exceptional off-road capability especially via the available torque-vectoring AWD system. This smart all-terrain system allows for greater traction on wet roads and better handling on dry roads. All Passport models include a Snow mode via the Traction Management button, and AWD variants include Mud and Sand modes as well.

Technology

Excluding the Honda Passport Sport trim, all 2020 Honda Passports include:

  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability
  • Blind Spot Information System
  • Cross Traffic Monitor
  • WiFi Hotspot Capability
  • Walk Away Auto Lock with Smart Entry

Accessories
The Honda Passport wouldn’t be worthy of its “freedom to travel” namesake without offering a wide variety of Genuine Honda accessories that give customers the freedom to customize their next adventure. From roof rails to racks, hitches to storage bins, the 2020 Passport grants drivers the ability to carry all the gear they need to explore the great outdoors.
